There are two ways to make money online. You can create an income actively or passively. Or preferably, both.

I’m a web developer. I make the bulk of my income when clients hire me to take their businesses online or improve their presence.

I build websites (or make them better), maintain them, create squeeze pages and sales pages, etc., write copy, ghostwrite, design and implement Internet and Social Media Marketing campaigns and dabble in SEO.

From time to time I also coach, teach and produce products (for myself and clients).

That’s all active income. Basically, I’m trading hours for dollars.

How I make passive income is what’s more important for you because you can do it, too. Here are two ways I earn money online passively.

1. Affiliate products and services.

I make recommendations for products and services clients and potential clients would need anyway. Hosting, autoresponder services, shopping carts, premium WordPress themes, etc.

I also have other sites, which I’ll discuss below in #2, on which I include relevant product offers, such as from Clickbank and Share a Sale (etc.).

What can you offer that relates to your products or services?

2. Adsense.

Yes! This is still a great way to earn income. (Maybe not the $10K you used to hear about but easily a car payment, or even your income taxes or mortgage payments! It all depends on how many Adsense sites you want to build, the niche(s) you choose and the quality.)

I build websites for myself and put Google ads on them as well as relevant affiliate product offers(that I like). It’s true that at first I have to build the site and market it to start driving traffic to it. But the time I invest can be practically non-existent after that’s done. I have sites I haven’t touched in years (literally) that still bring in consistent dollars month after month.  However, if I continued to drive traffic, I’d obviously make more money.

These sites are usually based on my personal interests, which makes creating and building them fun. I could easily finish one and start another, all in my spare time. And with WordPress, this is SO much easier!

Do you have a hobby or interest that you could build a WordPress site for and place Adsense ads on to create passive income? (I’m sure there is!)

I’m going to write a series of posts about this. I’m considering going into the exact process and show you how I’m doing with it.  I’d also show you the WordPress plugin (free) that will make the process of including your ads a very simple task. Then, if you’re interested, I’ll show you how I market the site to build traffic. And, again, if you’re interested, I’ll discuss in more detail the sites that I already have and how I’m banking consistent money from them.

Are you interested?

Do you have websites that are based on generating passive income already? How’s that going? Want tips and strategies to increase your income?

If not, would you be interested in learning more about how to begin and start making passive income?

What do you think? Let me know in the comments.
