Thanks to a new YouTube subscriber of my WordPress Insider channel, I learned about YouTube’s free “Search Story Video Creator” today. It only creates 35 second videos, but it’s free and kind of fun to use.
You know, when I saw Google’s Superbowl commercial, I knew something was up with that. More than the fact that it went so viral on the web. I had a feeling they were going to be introducing some new widget, though I didn’t think about YouTube.
Anyway…
I just played around with it a little. It’s pretty cool. I decided to make an introduction video to my YouTube channel and see what it would do… would it bring people to my channel if they saw it somewhere else? Hmm… I might be able to use it other places, too, like an ad. There’s probably a lot of uses if you think about it!
Here’s what I created:
You can go back and edit it as many times as you want, and you have about two dozen music selections to pick from, but once you hit the Create My Video button, you can’t edit anymore.
As an afterthought, I should have saved each of my search terms that I used in the video so I could easily remake it if I just wanted to change one or two things, which I do.
I imagine it’s not intended to be used for promotional purposes, considering the genre list you have to select from… but why not?
Give it a try! Create a welcome video for your blog or channel or whatever!
Any ideas on what else you could use these short little videos for?

I think that youtube is a fantastic way to spread the word. I get traffic to my websites from videos I did years ago. Have you ever used Tubemogul.com? Once you register on various sites you can distribute videos simulateously to multiple video channels. Up to 50 videos a month for free! Careful though 50 videos means 50 uploads, so one video to 5 video sites = 5 videos by their reckoning. great time saver though.
I have to check out the micro-videos. With today’s short attention span, that might be the ticket.
Thanks!

Thanks, Rob. I had heard of TubeMogul but hadn’t looked into it. I will. And appreciate the “tip” to be careful. When I get going with my videos I plan on going with TrafficGeyser.com. Have you tried that?

I’ve looked at Traffic Geyser a few times. It’s a great tool, I think, and for me it’s a Catch-22 situation, like copywriting. If I could afford it, I’d do it, If I did it, the money I’d make using it would probably more than pay the bills plus some, but right now I have to make sure the mortgage gets paid, so hiring a copywriter or getting Geyser takes a backseat. I have a couple projects that are right on the cusp, so I think the time will soon be ripe..
Thanks for putting TG back in my head..
